DESCRIPTION
Fieldpiece Classic Style Digital Multimeter with Temperature
SKU: LT17A
The LT17A is a manual ranger that covers most of the parameters and ranges you need for most HVAC/R applications. The LT17A meter measures current, resistance, voltage, capacitance, frequency, continuity, and temperature. Test leads store in the meter body and, with the probe tips removed, connect the LT17A to Fieldpiece accessory heads. The body is made out of durable ABS plastic and comes with a bright blue backlight for poorly lit test areas. Get great accuracy using the included k-type thermocouple and an easily accessible temperature calibration pot.
The LT17A is a manual ranging DMM that comes with an amp clamp and k-type thermocouple. Use the MIN/MAX function to record highs and lows. The continuity beeper tells you if a circuit is open or closed. Operation of the LT17A is easy. Simply select a range and test.
Features and Benefits:
Works with Fieldpiece Accessory Heads
There is a Fieldpiece accessory head available for just about any job. There are heads to measure temperature, superheat, subcooling, RH%, wet bulb, dew point, vacuum (microns of mercury), manometer (inches of water column), amps AC&DC, high voltage, CO, %CO2, air velocity, and many more.
Continuity Indicator
If you were doing lab testing, these features would probably drive you crazy. We've heard from more than one HVAC/R veteran that these features really remind you of what you're doing and they've avoided potentially dangerous situations in the field. The Hi-V LED and beeper let you know when you've hooked up to a circuit over 30V. The continuity LED and beeper tells you if a circuit is open or closed.
400AAC
Using the detachable test leads and the accessory head amp clamp, read 0-400 amps directly on your meter.
Capacitance (MFD)
Measure microfarads on motor-run and motor-start capacitors using this range. Disconnect the capacitor from power first. Short the terminals to discharge the capacitor. Disconnect any resistors that might be between the terminals of the capacitor and measure to check for degradation.
Microamps DC - Flame Rectification Tests
The most common "no heat" call has to do with a malfunctioning flame sensing diode. Simply turn the meter to microamps DC, hook up, and see if the flame sensing rod is functioning properly. Frequency Measure from 10Hz to 40kHz using this range with 1 Hz resolution
Silicone Leads with Detachable Probe Tips
Because the wire insulation is silicone, the leads stay flexible in cold weather and will not melt if bumped by a soldering iron. When testing electrical circuits with two hands, there is a risk that a careless mistake may complete a circuit through your body and potentially cause death or injury. Use the either probe clip on rubber boot to connect and firmly hold the V lead in place, detach the COM probe tip, connect an alligator lead tip to COM and ground, and perform a one-hand test more easily than most meters on the market. Built-in lead storage makes it easy to keep everything together from job to job.
Tilt Stand and Magnetic Hanger
Technicians enjoy the magnetic hanger because it keeps the meter out of the way while testing. The LT17A includes the magnet and a tilt stand to give you a choice in the way you want to use it.
Bright Blue Backlight
Easily read the display in overcast conditions or in dimly lit areas.
MAX/MIN hold
Record the minimum or maximum reading during a measurement. To exit the MIN/MAX function, hold the button for more than 2 seconds
More Features:
- Volts AC
- Volts DC
- Resistance (Ohms)
- Diode Test
- Rugged ABS case with rubber boot
- Fits naturally in your hand despite classic design
- Auto power-off (APO) to conserve battery life
Competitive Advantages:
The testing capability packed into this classic style meter is its main competitive advantage. In addition to all of the ranges, it has direct temperature measurement and it works with all of Fieldpiece's accessory head instruments to make it one of the most complete classic style meters available for HVAC/R. Add to that the fact that the classic design still fits naturally in your hand and comes standard with a rugged rubber boot.

Fuse Replacement:
When only certain ranges quit working, check the fuse. Open the case and replace according to the Overload Protection values below. If that doesn't work visit our Warranty Page to check for other problems.
